Reading through my Facebook feed, I saw that an old friend of mine had lost a close cousin on Sunday, June 26th, 2011. The worst part is that he was murdered. Below is the small blurb that The Washington Post posted on their website regarding this tragic event:
“Posted at 07:24 AM ET, 06/27/2011
1 killed, 1 injured in Capitol HeightsBy Justin Jouvenal
One man was killed and another was injured early Sunday in Capitol Heights, according to Prince George’s County police.
Henri Dominic Pratt, 26, of Clinton, was found suffering from a body trauma in the 7100 block of Hastings Drive around 1:50 a.m. on Sunday, police said. Officers were called to the scene for a report of a cutting.
Pratt was taken to the hospital, where he later died, police said. A 24-year-old man suffered non-life threatening injuries in the incident and also was transported to the hospital, police said.
Detectives are looking for suspects and a motive in the case. Anyone with information is asked to call the Prince George’s County police at 301-772-4925 or 301-772-4925. “
This morning while checking my Twitter timeline, I saw that Tiffany had posted a link to a blog Natasha Brown,a relative, had written about Henri- http://nbrownink.tumblr.com/post/7000764830/update-justice-for-henri-pratt-stabbed-27-times-in-md or read the her post below:
This is the most painful pitch that I’ve ever had to write. Please read and help if you can.
In the early morning of June 26, Henri Dominic Pratt, 26, was brutally stabbed to death 27 times, at a party in Seat Pleasant, MD. His friend was stabbed eight times and thankfully survived. Henri was a dear family friend and I’m writing to ask you for your help.
There are a few main problems with this incident:
1. Henri was on a party bus with 60 other passengers, after he got off the bus, he was jumped and stabbed to death, in the same vicinity as everyone who was on the bus, yet police haven’t found enough information to make an arrest in the case.
2. Witnesses say Henri’s body lay outside for almost 45 minutes before anyone reacted to the situation or an ambulance or police arrived. I can’t help but imagine how many people drove by in cars, walked home or worst, looked and did nothing while he bled to death. One girl, said that she saw him get hit by a bottle. Why didn’t she call the police?
3. A CHILD NEEDS YOUR HELP. Henri Pratt was only 26 years old, and he had a little daughter, Londyn, and a trust fund is being created for her. We have sought (and received) the moral support of Miss Black America DC Metro, Kamilla Collier-Mullin, who witnessed her mother’s brutal stabbing several years ago. Kamilla’s foundation, the Cecey Foundation, provides support for kids, like Londyn, who have lost a parent to violence.
Here’s how you can help:
There will be a candle light vigil Wednesday night at 9pm AT STEPHEN DECATUR MIDDLE SCHOOL AT 8200 PINEWOOD DRIVE IN Clinton, Maryland where Henri lived. Please cover this event if you can.
Please blog, post or cover this unfortunate story on air so that Henri’s murder is solved and things like this don’t happen again. We’ve sought the support of the Prince George’s County Council and County Executive Rushern Baker and also States Attorney Angela Alsobrooks. There are reasons to believe this incident is gang related.
Post on your Facebook Page, Tumblr, WordPress, etc.
Please help the family and friends of Henri get Justice for him so that this never happens again. Please.
Please share this message with anyone who knows how to read. There were so many witnesses, someone may be able to help. Also, if anyone has any information, please contact 301-772-4925.
I WILL POST DETAILS ABOUT THE TRUST FUND WHEN WE HAVE THEM.

So please pass this information along to anyone and everyone. This is a senseless death and the more the word gets out about it, the closer we get to finding the persons responsible. Today is Henri, tomorrow it could be you or me. Stop the violence!
